A plan for our needs - for recovery, future readiness and resilience.
The Blicks area already faces challenges that come as part of being an isolated rural community. Climate driven disasters, like bushfire, drought and flood further exacerbate our economic, environmental and social difficulties.
The community has come together and created a Blicks Community Action Plan which outlines what we identify as our needs for recovery and for future readiness and resilience.
Engaging the community in the consultation and development of this plan has highlighted that the community is willing and able to lead its own recovery and sustainability.
There are 4 pillars of the action plan:
Environmental Sustainability
Fire preparedness & Water security
Economic Infrastructure
Community Connection
We seek funding to create community project teams in the Environmental Sustainability strand. The outcome will be 2 fold: Empowering and giving ownership, skills and cohesion to the community as a part of the wider Community Action Plan. We believe ACTION and ENGAGEMENT with each other are both vital to re-building our community. Creating an Environmental Management Plan to build in long term environmental sustainability and establish short term “wins”.
